Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to school we go!

Okay, don't laugh, but I am actually getting an excited tummey about school next week! I can't wait to meet my new students, but I am little sad to be going back and not be able to see my class from last year. That's the downfall to teaching Grade Seven, my students move on to highschool at the end of the year! I saw this backpack idea posted on Splitcoast Stampers so I decided to give it a whirl. I used my Tart & Tangy stamp set and the coordinating DSP purely so that I could put that little apple on the front:) I'm thinking that my little guys' preschool teachers might get these as a starting up the year Survival gift! (maybe a Starbucks card and some chocolate... possibly aspirin for dealing with teaching 20 three or 4 years olds at a time!) My oldest, Joe, loved this when he saw it and decided that it would make a great backpack for his stuffed elephant:) The little pocket on the front is perfect for a small square notecard!

Happy 40th Anniversary!

Now if anybody deserves an award for 40 years of marriage it's my parents. Why, you're asking yourself? What have they been through that the rest of us haven't?........ ME (as a teenager)! Let's rephrase that, it was probably me from age 13 through until 24! I was not the easiest person in the world to deal with for those years and somehow my parents managed to stick together as a team! They celebrated their 40th Anniversary on Sunday and this was the card that I made for them. The photography is not great I know, but I promise it will be better by next week. (My upline, Kari, gave me a fabulous suggestion) This card was done on a Very Vanilla base and then used the new In Colour, Kiwi Kiss. I stamped the Baroque Motifs on the background using the Kiwi Kiss ink and then used the Celebrate Everything set to stamp the words in Versamark ink. I heat emobssed them using the Gold emobssing powder, and then finished it with some Very Vanilla taffeta ribbon. The key to embossing with something like Gold Embossing powder on a coloured background is to use a powder pal first so that you don't end up with embossing powder where you don't want it.

Full of Hot Air

After the long winded story on the scrapbook page and the missing stamp set, Heather just pointed out to me that I forgot to tell you the name of the stamp set:( It is the Flight of the Butterfly from the new catalogue! I love it! Thanks for keeping me on track Heather!

The Men in My Life

Funny as it may sound, after having met some of the amazing women who I am flattered to say take the time to look at my blog, it felt different writing my blog. All of a sudden I wasn't talking to the "great unknown" of the internet, but instead to some very sweet people with lives much like mine! So, now that I feel like I am getting to know some of you, it's time that you know a little more about me. I have an amazing husband, Sean, who on top of working full time as a firefighter, takes care of our two little boys full time! On the five or six days a month that his shift work requires him to be at work on school days when I am working, my older sister takes my boys! Joe is 4 and Lucas will be three in November! Yes, you read it right, I am one of those crazy people who had my children a whopping seventeen months apart! I didn't know any better, my sister and I are 12 months and nine days apart! I work full time as a Grade 6/7 teacher, and as far as I'm concerned have the greatest career in the world! I also love that my job enables me to be with my children as much as I am. The last two photos are of my first "child" Diesel, an eight year old rhodesian ridgeback and my baby Rooney, a one year old German short-haired pointer. I am the only female in the house, but in Sean's words it takes that many males to balance out one of me:)

3-D Demo Revisited!

As promised, I am going to give you the directions for the little Halloween Cracker that I used for a demo at my Open House! Now here's the great part... I had already posted it for the larger version of the same box (the one I use for Gift Cards). By clicking on the second image it will take you directly to that post. Please excuse the picture... I thought I stunk at taking the pictures now... I REALLY stunk back then!
The ratio is exactly the same for the two crackers but the halloween one is 8" X 7.5". This time you'll do the score lines along the 7.5" side, putting one every 1.5". The measurements to use before the mark and cut portion is 3/ 1" marks per side and then from the second mark in you'll use a 0.5 measurement to give the top of your triangle. If you're scratching your head right now, don't worry... I'll do this as a make n' take at my crop night if you'd like:) As the ladies at the Open House said, this will make you the mom that "everybody loves to hate". No laughing, but I have 40 ready in a Valentine's theme for my two little boys preschool classes' Valentine's treat! I think that the teachers might need the larger version with the Starbucks gift card!
Don't worry my Open House ladies... the recipe for the cookies is still coming! I just have a special plan for how to present it and it requires a night of baking and my mom to be in town so I can get the recipe:)

The other Little Angel (who occasionally sprouts horns:)

If you need Lucas to be quiet this is the only time you'll get it... when he's fast asleep! Notice the life jacket... the second we put Lucas in our boat he is gone. We even have to let him have the first tube ride or he'll miss them entirely:)

One of My Little Angels!

After all the stories you've heard this summer about our trips to the hospital, I thought I'd show you a pucture of my little trooper! This is Joe, and yes, he is the dancing fool he appears to be in this picture! I did this frame using the Manhattan Flowers from the Decor Elements. They are so easy to use! Unfortunately with two little boys there are very few photos I have suited to flowers! I think I need a good pic of my hubby and I for this photo frame! Joe is doing well; four more seizures on Monday, but they are slowly adjusting meds! We'll get it all sorted out; he's an amazing little guy!

Love these Colours!

Do you remember those old commercials where they used to tell the little boy "Mikey", "try it, you'll like it!" Well that little boy is me! (not literally of course:) I am the worst for getting stuck in the habit of staying with the known and not venturing far from it! I had already convinced myself that I couldn't like the new In Colours as much as the old ones. How did I remedy this you ask yourself? Well I went on a 12 day vacation and only took the new colours with me! I am now officially addicted! This was a card that I played with the other night while deciding what to demo at my Open House! I love the Embrace Life stamp set, especially on the Kiwi Kiss paper!

3-D Demo

I know I'm a little ahead of myself, but as anyone who met me for the first time today can attest to, I am a bit of an organizational freak! These will be my Halloween give aways for my little guys' preschool classes! Don't worry ladies, I'll keep my promise and post the instructions for this early next week! Again, I must credit Kari with the idea! This was shown to me at my first demonstrators meeting five months ago as a give a way for a baby shower! I have since used it for gift cards and even made a larger version for Joe's Pirate Party goody bags! They are even cuter IRL !

Scrapbook Page demo

First of all I'd like to thank Kari, my upline for the idea for this page! She definitely set me up lastnight when my brain dried up:) I love the colours on this page as well as the felt flowers from the Accents Kit! There are few stamp sets that I don't jump to buy, and this one was at the top of my list! For some reason someone doodled on my wishlist (personally I think my hubby was trying to sabotage it:) and I couldn't read the number and didn't write down the sets name. So when my big order arrived and it wasn't in it, I was SO disappointed! Needless to say Super Kari arrived to the rescue again and lent me her's. This is such a quick ad easyway to put together a fast scrapbook as a gift for grandparents etc.

My card demo!

This was the card that I demoed(sp?) this afternoon! I love the new In Colours and as a result you'll notice that I have probably used it in many of my new creations! This is the new Washington Apple DSP and the new Wow Flowers Stamp Set! Hey guess what else I used... the scallop punch! Big surprise eh?

Make'n take

I decided that for my make'n take today that I would showcase the amazing Big Shot the Stampin' Up is now carrying! I saw these fabulous little notecards on Dannie Graves website. I decided to modify them slightly and instead of making them on the small scallops die cut I used the largest! They are about 4inches in diameter and soooooooo cute! I want to thank my new recruit Sandra for her help at the make'n take table! You were awesome Sandra! I loave this new stamp set called, Pocket Silhouettes! It is on special until the end of September for an additional 15% off!

So Much Fun!

Thanks so much to everyone who came by for my Open House today! I must admit that as nervous as I may have been about holding my first Open House, I had a blast! I met some fabulous new women and got to see some other amazing women who I don't get to see enough! I finally got to meet Dee who made the trek down from her summer home in the Okanagan! She doesn't even live in BC! She's from just outside Calgary! Now that is what I call a die-hard scrapbooker! And Dee, I agree with what your daughter said, scrapbookers are the friendliest people! You're a doll!

Open House today!

I am so excited for my Open House today! I have been prepping all week so that I had some fabulous new demos to show you as well as some great make n' takes! I also have all my samples up for my upcoming classes! If you're around today, come and join me anytime between 1-4pm! My door prizes are all ready, and they're great! Tomorrow will be post crazy as I show you all the new cards and 3-D items that I've been working on! First five customers to my house today will also receive a free catalogue! (Don't show up before 1pm though because I'll probably still be cleaning:) See you soon!

Home from Holidays!

We just arrived home from twelve days in the Okanagan today. What an amazing trip! I'll share the pictures of my my two year old "tubing" this week! I even connected with a new Stampin' Up lover while in the Okanagan. She thought that she was contacting me here in Vancouver! As it turned out we were directly across the lake from one another. I am so looking forward to meeting you Dee! Coming home was made into a reward in that when I arrived there were 5 huge Stampin' Up boxes on my doorstep that had come today! Everything is even more amazing than it looks in the catalogue! I can't wait for tomorrow to play. I was going to start to organize it all into my Stamp Room, but what fun would that be when you come for my Open House on Saturday! I can't wait to share!

I would also like to welcome two amazing women to my downline! Both Heather and Sandra have joined my team! I can't wait to spend more time with both of you! Look out Utah, here we come! (Little do they know it but I'm already planning our Convention trip for next year:). If you've been paying attention to my blog you'll know that means that I have only one more fabulous incentive gift on top of what Stampin' Up is offering for August. If you're sitting on the fence, call me and I can explain being a demo in a little more detail to you. (And if you're out there thinking "I should just join for the discount" you can do that too!

Look forward to frequent posts this week! My summer holidays are rapidly coming to an end so I'm going to make the most of it!

Last but not least!

If you are on my mailing list you should be receving this flyer in the mail any day now! If you are in one of my clubs or have placed an order in the past, this is you! If for some reason you don't get yours please let me know as SU had a problem with my last mail out! This flyer includes some time sensitive rewards for purchasing, hostesses, and signing up as a demo. By clicking on the image you'll be taken to the flyer which I will warn you now, does show some stamps from the new catalogue. So if you want it to be a complete surprise only look at page 12 which lists the upcoming promotions! I want to know if any of you are able to do this! There is now way that I could; I was always the child who peaked at Christmas presents!

Promotions Galore!

Not only is there the amazing promotions starting for new recruits, Stampin' Up is starting off the new catalogue with a fabulous promotion! They are offering 15% off a select group of sets from the new catalogue. There is no minimum purchase involved, just immediate savings! Click on the image to view the flyer! I can't type fast enough tonight to list all of the amazing deals! I've got one more to go still, but I will warn you, the flyer in the next post will show you some of the new stamps. So, if you want to wait until you have your new catalogue, don't spoil it by clicking on the image!

Want a Catalogue?

I forgot to mention a few other ways to get your hands on a new catalogue.. anyone who signs up for one of my clubs for September as well as anyone who signs up to hostess a workshop/ party automatically gets one for free. Check your calendars... call me and we can set up a date!

Or... do you want 8 catalogues? If you sign up as a new recruit, you automatically receive these in your starter kit. Anyone who has had one of these catalogues in their hand knows how easy it is to get others excited about Stampin' Up once you've seen it. (Like I said before... "wishbook" for adults! My hubby compares it to his Princess Auto flyer..teehee) Starting on Monday, August 11th, Stampin' Up is offering some great new incentives for new demonstrators. By clicking on the image above you'll be directed to their promotion. The best part about this promotion is that it is much less expensive than the usual starter kit. This is definitely for someone who has already got some supplies and would just like to get going! If you are new to stamping like I was when I signed up, the full Starter Kit for $249 is ideal. It has so many stamp sets and accessories that it will make your head spin! Stampin' Up is also offering one stamp set from the new catalogue for free when you sign up for the full size kit, no price restrictions!
If this interests you at all give me a call. (I may have my own little incentive going right now:) If you're just ready to take the plunge visit my SU website and click on the link JOIN Stampin' Up at the top of the page. My password is "scrapaholic". I would love to have you on my team. The invitation is always open to attend a Colourful Impressions Meeting or Sea to Sky Stampers meeting with me if you just want to check it all out!

It's here! It's here!

OMG! It is absolutely amazing! I felt like a child waiting for the Sears Wishbook this morning, but it is worth the wait! It blows the last catalog out of the water! Can you tell I'm excited by the numerous exclamation marks in this post????!!!!! I can't wait to share it with you... well, that and to have someone else scream like a school girl with me! (I'm not exactly getting the response I was looking for from my husband) The Open House will be a blast.

If you or anyone else you know is looking for a great deal on some other products such as Cuttlebug, Cricut, etc. I'll be selling off a bunch of my stuff at the Open House as well. I've definitely become Stampin' Up obsessed. Feel free to pass on my blog address to anyone you know who might be interested, or if you are one of those readers who is out there that I don't know yet (yes, I know you're there because the hit counts are going up rapidly:), request my newsletter so I can give you further details!

I'm in such a giddy mood today that I'm feeling some blog candy coming on... let's see your comments!

New Catalogue Open House/ Garage Sale August 23rd 1-4pm

Well, the time has come! My new catalogues arrive tomorrow, and we're gong to kick it off with a bang! I'm going to be holding a new catalogue Open House at my place in North Vancouver on Saturday August 23rd from 1-4pm! Drop in whenever you'd like! As SU also seems to be taking over my scrapping room, I will also be selling off many of my older supplies (ie Cricut, Cuttlebug, Sizzix, Glitter Ritz, Making Memories)

You'll be able to check out new products and get your hands on the coveted new catalogue; I'll even have some fabulous deals on retired sets! Every purchase over $30 will receive a new catalogue for free or you have the option of puchasing a catalogue for $5 if that suits you better! I will also have a draw for the hostess benefits for the day's orders which you can enter by booking your workshop with me at the Open House!

There'll be some fabulous door prizes; and if you are a new customer, or an old customer bringing along a new friend, you'll get a bonus four tickets on top of your one for coming! I'll have some fabulous make-n-takes for you if you RSVP ahead of time!

Can't wait to see you! (or meet you for the first time!)

Ahhhh.....Relaxation!

After all of the craziness of the past week, life is backto normal! I got downstairs to my "playroom" lastnight, and thought I should get to work on the wedding card that my mother commisioned me to do:) I had seen a bow like this recently at Kari's house and went home determined to figure out how to make one! (probably could have just asked and saved myself some time:) I love the new scallop border punch coming out in the catalogue on Monday and decided to make use of it here! I also used my shimmery white cardstock for the first time. It is hard to tell in the photo, but it definitely gave it that wedding card look! I used my craft ink to stamp my two hearts on the circle and then heat embossed them with the irridescent ice powder. I did the Going Gray background hearts using my Stampin Around wheel. Finally, I used by Bravo Burgundy Grosgrain; I've heard through the grapevine that there are new colours coming next week!

Thinking of Joining?

I am definitely on information overload right now. Everytime that I look at my Stampin' Up Demonstrator info there's something new! Not only is the new Catalogue dropping on August 11th, but the promotions that are coming with it are insane! I must admit that I am more than impressed at the thought that has gone into the launch. The newest promo I read about today is by far the best if you've ever thought of becoming an SU demo now's the time! Not only have they done a promo if you want to buy the regular starter kit for $249 (+bonus:) but there's an option to join by buying a much smaller starter kit which still includes all of the business supplies! This is great for those of you who've been stamping for awhile and aren't necessarily in need of the basics! I joined purely as what they call a "discount demo", meaning that I knew I'd be buying a ton of stuff over the next year, so why not get a discount. That was at least my intention to start... it seems to have taken off before my eyes though! So, if you've been humming and hawing over this, now's the time to jump in! As part of my team you would also fall under two larger umbrellas, the Colourful Impressions group led by Kristina Koch who was one of the top 10 demos in Canada this year, but we also fall under Kari Metzger who was one of Stampin' Up's Rising Stars at Convention this year! Talk about a talented group, and we are able to attend both of their meetings! I have learnt so much through both of them. I would love to have you as part of my growing team whether as a discount demo, hobby demo, or a serious business demo! I'd love to give you more details on the promotion as they are not posted on the Customer Website until August 11th! I've also got an extra special bonus for the first three people who sign up under me in the month of August! Remember, you can sign up from my demo website http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/northshorestamper . Go in under JOIN STAMPIN' UP, my password when you get there is "scrapaholic". Just remember the new promos with Stampin' Up don't start until August 11th! Let me know if you have any questions, or you can come over and we can do it together!

Oh My Goodness!!!!!! Sizzix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stampin' Up is going to be carrying the Sizzix Bigshot and dies made specifically for Stampin' Up! This news was released today at the Stampin' Up Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah! I would have loved to have been there but there was something that stopped me from buying the ticket a couple of months ago, after this week I definitely know what it was! Anyway, this is the convention where they demo all of the new products for the demonstrators and you get a sneak peak at the new and amazing things Stampin' Up is releasing! My upline Kari is there and I have been getting regular emails from her filling me in! Boy do Blackberrys ever come in handy! Apparently the new catalogue is, "to die for". I have seen a few pictures sent to me of items from it and I've already started my wishlist. I can't wait to share! Hopefully I'll have the new catalogues in my hand sometime next week. Everyone who is currently in one of my clubs will get their's free! Any purchases over $30 in the month of August will also qualify for a free catalogue! As soon as I have the catalogues I'll send out an email with some Open House times that you can come by and browse and even check out some of the new stamp sets and accessories that I was able to preorder! Just because I'm feeling so giddy and excited over this new announcement today, I am also going to pay your shipping for any orders made from August 12th to the 31st!
