Couldn't Resist:)

The Olympic enthusiasm here in Vancouver is contagious!  I couldn't resist posting this picture of Joe today with the big game at noon!  I figured that I better put in a MDS page at the least though!  Grandma and Grandpa got him his Team Canada jersey for Christmas this year and boy is he proud of it.  Go Canada Go!

Club Card #2

This was the second club card that we did lastnight.  I love to show the ladies different types of cards, so this month we had a go at the easel card:)  As they were finishing up last night we had a chuckle.  We were trying to figure out if the people that we sent them to would actual realize that they needed to stand them up like this:) We decided to include a post it note with instructions:)

Early Easter

I know that Valentine's Day just passed, but for me, that is just an indication that the next holiday is on the way!  I hate nothing more than realizing it is too late to get hold of the materials that I need to complete a project in time.  For that reason I'll get started on my Easter projects now so that hopefully you'll be inspired in some way and have a chance to get yourself organized:)

I'm just seeing this full of Cadbury Mini Eggs:)  Anyone else?

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #8

WOW!  Hardest challenge ever for me!  I am an Earth Elements girl through and through... Bold Brights and I just don't get along.   I had to keep it simple so that I could get my head around the colours.  I will admit that I did have fun inking up the sentiment with my Stampin' Write Markers.  The final effect reminded me of the first stamp pad I ever owned... it was rainbow!

Make sure to jump over to Stampin' Royalty and check out the fabulous creations from the other goddesses!

Visiting Vintage

I have been in awe of all of the vintage cards out there and decided to give it a try myself the other night.  I made a great friend this year at Convention/ Founder's Circle.  Dawn did an amazing scrapbook page on her blog and I couldn't resist casing parts of it when I created my card.  I am the LEAST frilly girl you will ever meet; I'm most comfortable in sweats:)  On that note, I was surprised with how much fun I had creating this card and how pleased I was with the overall effect.  I hope that my club girls like this as this will be one of club cards this week!

Simply Scrappin' Seconds:)

This was another card I made while playing with my Simply Scrappin' Kit the other day.  The colours are so perfect for both males or females:)  I love making the star outlines... for those of you who haven't made these before, you'll need both sizes of star punch.  first, you punch the small star punch out of piece of scrap paper... you can either toss this small star or use it as an accent elsewhere on your card.  Then you center the large star punch over top of the star hole in the scrap and punch again.  It leaves you with this fabulous outline shape!

Getting Over the Hump

As I mentioned before, I find the best thing to do when I'm having a mental block with my creating is to case someone else's work that I admire.  I have always loved Mary Fish's clean and elegant style.  I think that it has even inspired my own style.  When I looked at the Pals Paper Art Challenge, I instantly fell in  love with her card.  I decided that I would try to rid myself of my mental block by casing Mary's card.  I decided to pull out me least used In Colour cardstock, Bermuda Bay.  Funny how all it takes is one card to change my view on a colour!  I love it now:)

Which Way Does It Go?

Pals Paper Arts had a KISS (Keep it Simple Silly) challenge this week and I thought I'd give it a go.  For a while there, I really felt like creating was easy and then I had to take a break while I was writing report cards (and watching too much of the Olympics:).  Now, I seem to be in a rut!  I've turned this card side to side a million times trying to figure out which way to photograph and still couldn't decide... so here's both photos.  Which way do you prefer?

So Simple

I really wanted to showcase how versatile these Simply Scrappin' Kits are... and the colours are to die for!  These are fabulous for people who are nervous about entering the world of stamps, but still love to make their own cards... not one stamp used here, just a Simply Scrappin' Kit and a Big Shot!  For anyone who has a colour wheel, you understand how easy they can make creating your projects.  Simply Scrappin' Kits are like a micro colour wheel, they colour combos are picked for you and you've got DSP, cardstock and embellishments to compliment the combo.

Free Products Galore!

I saw this card sketch on Stamping 411 a few weeks ago, but I didn't have time to participate.   This card is exactly as the sketch was laid out, but I loved the way that the DSP had been cut on a diagonal... so outside of my way of thinking:) I know that you can't see it from the photo, but each of the polka dots on the top gift is coated in crystal effects.  It gives them an adorable 3-d effect!

On another note... by purchasing the majority of supplies necessary to make this card, not only would you have some decent supplies put away, you would also earn either the stamp set, the border punch, or possibly both!

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #7

This week's Stampin' Royalty Challenge is to create a masculine card.  Well, I will admit, I took the easy way out and made a card for a little boy.  This is much easier to do than creating a card for an adult male!  I also used an older Mojo Monday sketch to inspire my layout.  Make sure to head on over to Stampin' Royalty and check out the fabulous cards done by the other divas!  I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Keeping the Cardfront Simple

I had bought a gift card for my sis-in-law for her birthday and decided that I was going to finally pull out my Pop Up Look Here die.  After having read the directions, I decided to make my card front first:)  Notice how simple the cardfront is????  I thought that the inside was going to be much more complicated:)  It was actually super easy to put together and I love the way that it makes the gift card stand out:)  Seeing Jill Hilliard's card inspired me to get it out and try this layout:)  Thanks Jill!

Another Wedding Invite....

What better to post on Valentine's Day than another Wedding Invitation!  Another family friend had her son's wedding coming up and couldn't bear to have the evites that her son was sending go out to some of her more traditional family members.  I think that on the actual invitation that I'll move that scallop closer to the Lavender Lace... more Eggplant showing on the right.  These were done on 5 1/4" inch square cards.

An MDS Thank You Card

I was playing with my Sunny Day Simply Scrappin' Kit today and was inspired to crawl out of my craft cave and try some new layouts on my computer!  The colours in the DSP are so vibrant.  The best part is that even though I'm even out of my DSP in my kit... I've got an endless supply on my computer!

Miracle Baby Card... not the card... the baby!

I figured that it was safe to post this card today as I've finally given it to my girlfriend.  She had a miracle baby four months ago and she was finally able to come home a couple of weeks ago!  I couldn't be happier for her and her family.  My girlfriend is definitely an "Earth Elements" kind of girl, so I tried to find a way to not keep it too girly and yet I wanted that pink in there still:)

Fox and Friends Card Kit Inspiration:)

A great friend of ours is due to have a baby boy in the next few weeks.  I thought that with report cards right around the corner that I need to get organized and check some things off of my "to do" list.  I was so excited to create my own coordinating DSP in Bordering Blue using the new Dot, Dot, Dot mini background stamp.  These were so quick and easy and were a springboard for a little gift that I wanted to include for them.  This inspired my Fox and Friends kit released on Feb 1st!  Make sure to check it out if you haven't yet!

A Card Gone Wrong...

I started on a card a few weeks ago and it just never came together.  I was left with a bunch of bits and pieces on my desk from the numerous times that I started and retstarted and restarted...

Well... here is what came together after I cleaned up the pieces... you pull on the little ribbon loop to take the center out of the card.  I'm thinking that this card is still lacking something... oh wait!  I know what it is... CHOCOLATE!  I think that Valentine's coloured M&M's would be perfect in there!

Stop While You're Ahead!

I will admit that this card is one of my favourites in a while!  I'm huge on keeping things clean and simple and somehow... I can often get carried away.  Sometimes it's hard to remember to stop while you're ahead:)  As soon as I felt pleased with this card, I stopped! This is one of the cards in my upcoming Varied Occasions Stamp-a-Stacks.  The first class booked up quickly, but I've got another scheduled for March 5th.  RSVP early to avoid disappointment as I've only got space for 8 in my room.

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #5... Anything But A Card!

Okay... this is my favourite Stampin' Royalty challenge yet!  I love playing with my Big Shot and the 3-D dies are my ABSOLUTE favourite!  I love the fact that not only can I use my Big Shot to make these quick and easy projects, but I can also use my texturz plates or textured impressions folder to add depth to them!  Window sheets are another favourite of mine... using them to create a 3-D project is such a clean and classy way to package.  Sticky Strip is an absolute MUST when using Window Sheets on a 3-D project.  On this particular project, I used my crop-a-dile to punch the hole at the top to put my brad through; this way it can be easily opened and re-used.  Go and check out the Stampin' Royalty blog for some other AMAZING samples from the Design Team.

Stumped??? Use a Sketch!

Sometimes when I go down to my craft room I just have a mental block.  I find that something that works well for me is to pull out a sketch and just eliminate that aspect of the planning.  This was a quick card when I knew that I only had a short time to craft the other night.
