Stampin' Royalty Challenge #103 ~ Winter Theme

Okay, I will admit it, I'm SICK of Christmas cards!  Once I licked that last envelope and stuck on the last stamp, I didn't want to look back.    When I saw that this week's Stampin' Royalty Challenge was Winter Themed my brain could think of nothing, so in the end I decided to suck it up and do once last Christmas card, or I prefer to think of it as the first Christmas card for next year:)

I think the reason I'm done with Christmas cards is that all my new goodies for the upcoming Occasions Mini have arrived and I just want to play.  I couldn't resist throwing in just one new item... isn't that pleated ribbon to die for???

Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge #98 ~ Unique Folds

 This week's Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge was a particularly difficult one for me.  As anyone who knows me is aware of, I have a hard time "thinking outsdie the box".  For the most part I am in the box with the lid locked!   The only folds I know are the ones where you fold an 8 1/2x 5 1/2" piece of cardstock in half to make an A2 card:)

Thank goodness a great friend of mine, Wanda, recently gave me one of these gorgeous Christmas ornaments!  She also volunteered to come in and make them with my class.  (Her wonderful son, Allan, is in my class:).  The kids had a blast making them!  Their's were made from square pieces of DSP although the one that I'm showing here is made from circles:)  You can see how these fold up for easy storage in the above photo.

Ahhh... Holidays!

I am loving being on Christmas holidays with my family.  Today started with a 7am hockey game for my youngest and an 8am game for my oldest.  This was followed by two more hours of skating with the Fire Department's kids Christmas party.  We came home for a couple of hours and then both boys were off to a birthday party.  I don't even know how they were still walking by bedtime tonight.  In the few hours that we were home this afternoon, I snuck down to my room to create this card for their friend's birthday.  This is one of the gorgeous new sets from the upcoming Occasions Mini.  I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches to get me started... great layout!

It is so hard to show in the pictures, but I coloured the icing, cherry and real red border with my versamark pen, added some irridescent ice and heat set it... it was the perfect touch!
